The Center offers you:
- Pulmonary function test
- Stress test
- Holter monitoring
- Sleep studies (Sleep Lab)
We spend about a third of our life sleeping. For this reason, sleep is a fairly important factor that helps repair and restore our bodies. Often sleep problems can affect our daytime lifestyle. Doctors may request a sleep study for a number of reasons but ultimately it is to try and determine if there is a problem occurring during a person’s sleeping hours.
The Sleep Lab consists of 2 private bedrooms outfitted with simple non-invasive monitoring equipment used to monitor brain, muscle, heart and breathing activity during sleep or awake tests. The test that may be ordered are called:
- Regular (PSG)
- Split Night (Regular and then a CPAP study)
- MSLT (daytime study done following a night study)
- MWT (daytime study done following a night study)
Prior to the test, the staff will attach several monitoring leads to you, then work through the night in another room to observe the recordings.
Following your test in the Sleep Lab, your study will be examined for problems in your sleep pattern or breathing. Often they will be trying to determine if you stopped breathing while you were sleeping and if you did they will count how often this occurred. A report is created for a doctor to review and then a summary report is provided to your doctor.
Call (269) 651-7824 to schedule and appointment for these test when ordered by your doctor.
